Registration is open!
Dear Members and Friends of West Fargo Soccer Club - 
 
We are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2017 spring/summer season. We are very excited for this season. We had a great fall season, our coaching ranks have grown, and we have some exciting plans for this summer! Details are below. Please review carefully as there is a lot of information here which I hope will address most questions.
 
1. The link to register is here. We are using a new website. The site is not wholly live yet (watch for it in early 2017) but the registration module is ready to go. You will have to open a SportsNGIN account and enter some additional information as we migrate to the new site. Thank you for your patience as we make the transition; we think this will be a better experience for everyone once we get transitioned, but there will certainly be some growing pains as we get over there.
 
2. Remember that age group rules have changed to calendar year effective immediately. An explanation is here. If your child is currently 8-10 years old, please carefully review the age of your child before you register to be sure you are registering for the right age. For some of you, it may be easier to register after January 1.
 
3. Fees are $225 per child for U8-U9 and $435 per child for U10 and older. We require payments online unless special arrangements are made. Please note that you will  be charged the credit card processing fees for your payments ($1 plus 3%). Adding the small fee increase to the credit card fees means an overall slight increase over last year. However, there will be no individual fundraising requirement this year, which effectively reduces fees by $50 or $100, depending on the age of your child. Any fundraising will be spread across all members rather than on a  family-by-family basis. Moving to a new website doe snot change your existing account status, so if If you have a credit on your account you would like to use or would like to discuss a payment plan, please email Treasurer Jennifer Sunram at wfscbookkeeper@gmail.com.
 
4. Uniforms for those who do not have them will be about $100. However, our goal is to raise money through donations to eliminate or defray those costs. We were successful in reducing the costs in the fall thanks to generous donations from our supporters at Magnum Electric, Dakota Supply Group, and New Horizons Electric. We can't thank them enough and we urge all members to let them know how much we appreciate their generosity and commitment to soccer! If you have any interest in a tax-deductible donation (we're a 501(c)(3)!), please contact me. We would be glad to help you with year-end tax planning. Uniform questions may be directed to board member Carissa Bertsch at  . We will not order uniforms for a few months. In the meantime, please email Carissa if you will need a uniform so she can start tracking our needs. 
 
5. The U8-U9 group will play two tournaments (tentatively Tri-City and Grand Forks). U10 and older will play four (tentatively Tri-City, Tonka Splash, Grand Forks, and one as yet determined). This is roughly the same schedule as past years. Extra tournaments may be added at additional cost with club permission. We anticipate arranging in-town friendlies with both Tri City and FM United and we will always be on the lookout for other changes to play as close to home as possible.
 
6.  A special note for younger children: In the past we have had the U8-U9 kids use a rec jersey. This saves money for people just starting out, but the uniforms are definitely not as cool as the competitive ones, plus there are no socks and shorts. We would like your feedback (sent to Carissa atwfscuniforms@gmail.com) on your opinions about that. We know we cannot please everyone, but we would like some feedback before we make our final decision on uniforms for that age group.
 
7. An organizational meeting will be held in late March or early April. Final details will be announced as soon as possible.
 
8. As always, we cannot make teams and assign coaches until registration is underway, particularly given the age changes from US Soccer. However, we anticipate increased numbers this year and hope to offer a team or pool for all players U8-U14. Older teams will depend on numbers, but we are hopeful there as well. If we cannot offer you a team, we will offer training at a reduced cost. We will also refund the money of any family we cannot place onto a team.
 
9. There will be volunteer requirements. We have a plan for managing that process and hope to make it easier for you to meet your requirements.
